GRIMSEY ISLAND TOUR-DRANGSNES

Our guided boat tour sails to Grimsey Island, less than ten minutes from Drangsnes harbour, and home to thousands of sea birds. The tour usually starts by circling the island on-board Sundhani, our converted fishing boat. Here you can see colonies of razorbills, cormorants, shags and kittiwakes, as well as thousands of puffins flying overhead.

Next we land on the island and guests can enjoy a guided walk (in English), up to the lighthouse with stunning views all around the island. If you prefer you can also hang along the cliff-edge, watching the puffins come and go. With an estimated breeding colony of around 60,000 Atlantic puffins, this is one of the few tours in Iceland you can actually walk on the island and watch the birds closely.

Grimsey Island is a photographers paradise; small trips of just a handful of people, you can be surrounded by birds and nature, without crowds of humans.

It is also possible to do some fishing from the boat for part of the trip if you prefer. Whale watching can also be a possibility with frequent humpback whale sightings in Steingrímsfjörður during the summer months.

 The price is 12.000 ISK for adults and 6.000 ISK for children (6 years old and younger).
You can pay at the reception at the guesthouse or on the boat.
